CHILDREN'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE PRE -REQUISITE FOR TRAVEL

Chief immigration officer at Ramatlabama border gate has urged travellers to carry evidence to prove the birth right of their children when crossing the border. Speaking in an interview recently, Mr Joseph Rantung, said evidence such as birth certificates were essential to authenticate that travellers were indeed crossing the border with their children. He said if it was not the traveller’s child, the parent of the child should give the traveller one of these documents; a consent letter or an affidavit, a copy of the birth certificate, certified copy of the parent’s Identity Card, noting that could help avert incidents of child trafficking.

Mr  Rantung said such documents should be availed to immigration authorities for children under the age of 16 years. He said child trafficking was a concern that needed to be addressed at all costs. (BOPA)
