Gaborone - Pangolin Diamonds Corporation has announced the recovery of two more diamonds from its wholly-owned Malatswae Diamond Project in Botswana, which has previously recovered eight other diamonds from ongoing sampling operations in Karowe. In a cautionary notice issued to shareholders on March 7, the company said nine of the diamonds recovered from drilling operations on 5 of the 30 high priority anomaly targets thought to be rich in kimberlites, were white in colour.
“Pangolin Diamonds Corp. is pleased to announce it has recovered two more diamonds from the Company’s wholly-owned Malatswae Diamond Project (“Malatswae”) for a total of ten to date. The project area is located 105km southeast of the Karowe Diamond Mine operated by Lucara Diamonds in Botswana. Diamond MSC-DG-137 is a white cube with small black inclusions and dimensions of roughly 0.7 x 0.7 x 0.7mm.
“Diamond MSC-DG-342 is an irregular shape with remnant octahedral surfaces with dimensions of roughly 1.0 x 0.8 x 0.5mm. Photos of all the diamonds can be seen on the Company’s web page. The diamonds were recovered from an unscreened 100 litre sample collected within a 10 square metre area of a GPS controlled sample site. This material was dry screened in the field to recover the +0.425-2.0 millimetre size fraction,” the company said.
The diamond samples were processed and pre-assessed at the company’s plant in Francistown prior to transportation to the laboratories of MCC Geoscience Inc. in Vancouver, Canada, where they were confirmed as diamonds. Although none of the diamonds yielded kimberlite, the company said the results had provided additional geological data which would help in re-modelling available geophysical data on the mineralisation of the 5,472.5 square kilometres prospect area.
Data collected from the ongoing sampling programme was expected to contribute to the formulation of the next drilling programme later in the year. The company has been awarded six more diamond exploration licences which cover a prospect area that is approximately 5,472.5 square kilometres large.
