The Ambassador had the opportunity to witness first-hand the event where 1600 teams from 80 countries with 50,000 spectators gathered. “it was a magnificent arrangement of the magnitude of the world cup!” said the Ambassador. Since Botswana has never participated, Gothia Cup has invited the country to send a Youth team for the 2014 tournament and the Embassy is working hard to make that a reality. It is our wish that Botswana participates to meet other young footballers to learn from each other, gain exposure and experience soccer at the international level while at the same time promoting local football.
