Embassy prepares for Botswana Independence Day celebrations

This year the Embassy has exciting plans in-store to commemorate the 47th anniversary of the Botswana Independence day (30th September).

On 28th -29th  September 2013, the Botswana Sweden Friendship Association (BOTSFA) together with the Embassy will host the Botswana Day Celebration in Lyrestad, a city 300 km south of Stockholm. The organizers have made contact with Hotel Norrqvarn in Lyrestad in the Gothernburg Region ( http://www.norrqvarn.se ) to host the event on a beautiful setting by Göta Canal. For members wishing to participate, It is possible to reach the place by train to Töreboda station, approximately 10 km from Lyrestad. Rooms can only be booked by telephone (0501-50770) or e-mail to  reception@norrqvarn.se. Bookings are on a first come first serve basis, so make your bookings now. BOTSFA members and Friends of Botswana will be treated to loads of entertainment including information updates on Botswana, music and dance including performance by Botswana’s Jazz Artist Banjo Mosele, who is based in Norway.
On 1st October the Embassy will host a cultural night expected to bring together Botswana artists including the Sedibeng Choral Society, Jazz Artist and member of women in Jazz Ms. Nnunu Ramogotsi, and Jazz Artist Banjo Mosele. Also expected to grace the event are Botswana popular Poets Barolong Seboni, Andreattah Drea Chuma, TJ Dema and Moroka Moreri who are also on a poetry cultural exchange programme with the Nordic Africa Institute and will take part in the highly rated Uppsala International Poetry Festival 2013. Invited guests at the cultural night will be treated to a mouth-watering Setswana cuisine by Botswana’s renowned Celebrity Chef, Joseph Seeletso, based in Poland.  These activities are expected to raise awareness on Botswana’s rich and diverse culture and tourism in Sweden.
